English, 19th century. 14" inner top diameter, 4 1/2" deep. 6 lbs. 4 oz.

Victorian preserving pans, with their distinctive handles, are the loveliest of all. This one is just the recommended size for jam making and a good weight as well. Not tinned because jam pans should not be. The large amount of sugar in jam prevents the acid in the fruit from reacting badly to the copper.
